The Mets were up 3 games to 2 after the final game at Shea Stadium in the 1973 World Series.

An unlikely player, Don Hahn, had played a big role in the game 5 victory.

But when the series shifted to Oakland, the Hahney-moon was over.

It was a cold night at Shea Stadium for game 5 of the 1973 World Series.

It was a Chiller Thriller.

One of my favorite articles ever, featuring my friend and former Oakland A's player Ted Kubiak.  https://lenferman.substack.com/p/kubiak-in-the-clutch

A players revolt rocked the Oakland A’s in the middle of the 1973 World Series after owner Charlie O Finley “fired” 2nd baseman Mike Andrews.

It’s one of the most fascinating off field stories in World Series history and it took place exactly 50 years ago this week.

My account includes a never before heard interview with one of the A’s other 2nd basemen, Ted Kubiak.

Here's a story on one of my favorite games in baseball history - game 2 of the 1973 World Series, one of the zaniest ever played.

It was also a showcase for the last hiccups and heroics of Willie Mays.
